This is really a page for employers and people who want to know all about
what I like and do to satisfy their curiosity. I've tried to give links to
all the interesting bits.
First of all, I suppose, computery things.
Right now, a lot of my time is doing into the development of WEBPerl, implementing the WEB system of structured documentation into Perl programming.
I'm also working quite hard on my MA Dissertation, entitled "Transformational Computational Linguistics of Japanese". As you can tell from that, I'm very interested in Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics, Japanese Text Processing, and so on.
At home, I have a home-made PC with this sort of spec:
I use Red Hat Linux version 5, and I heartily
support the objectives of the Linux developers. While I'm not yet up to
kernel hacking myself, (unlike Alan Cox)
I've started documenting the source of the kernel, which could take a
while, and tinker with various bits of source. I fiddled with
finger today, and now it does pretty things in colour...
I'm very interested in all elements of computer networking, and especially TCP/IP and very especially computer security. I hunt down security flaws and tell sysadmins. They probably get annoyed with me for it.
I also enjoy usenet, both reading and administrating it. I quietly associate with the people from the bofh.* and the Scary Devil Monastry. If you don't understand, try Helen (And I just happen to run the European mirror).
